Gary O’Neil has endorsed David Brooks to be “a huge asset” to Bournemouth in the final months of the season.
Brooks returned to professional football with Aston Villa two weeks ago after recovering from Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma.
He continued his comeback with a 45-minute Hampshire Cup appearance against Bournemouth this week, scoring a hat-trick and catching an assist.
“He always planned 45 minutes – and it was very eventful!” said O’Neil. “I don’t think he expected to come back and score three goals.
“But it will be a good 45 for him. He did a good job in training.
“We will continue to develop him and he will be a big plus for us. We are happy that he is doing well now and will use him for the next eight weeks.”
