TULSA, Oklahoma — The annual tradition of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Race of Champions, a thrilling race, got the Chili Bowl crowd on Monday night at the SageNet Center.
Spencer Bayston added his name to the list of winners for the 15th edition of the event.
The pair struggled early with Rico Abreu and went slide after slide for several laps, with ABreu holding off the No. 1 until lap 12. After gaining space above the field, the final laps would welcome a new challenger. Storming the hub of Tulsa Expo Raceway, Cannon McIntosh closed the gap on car lengths as the pair raced to the final three laps.
Bayston only needed one chance to fall while waiting for the car on the final drive down the backstretch at turn two.
Giving McIntosh a run in the last two turns wasn’t going to be enough as McIntosh slid off the ground far enough to let Bayston win the drag race to the line.
Abreu crossed third place with Logan Seavey going up to third on lap 10, fourth. Tanner Thorson was fifth.
