Australia selects two jumpers for their World Championship debut

Two Australian jumpers will make their World Championship debuts after being selected in a 10-man team for the upcoming titles in Japan.

Milly Puckeridge, 18, and Lauren Flint, 20, will make their World Championships debuts in Fukuoka starting July 14.

Puckeridge is the youngest team member, while 35-year-old Shixin Li, who won bronze at last year’s World Men’s One-Meter Springboard Championships, is the oldest.

Shixin will compete in the one- and three-meter sprints and will work with Tokyo Olympian Sam Fricker in the three-meter synchronized sprint.

Olympic bronze medalist Maddison Keeney is among Commonwealth Games gold medalists on the team, including Georgia Sheehan and Cassiel Rousseau.

Sheehan will compete in the individual one-meter and three-meter dashes in Fukuoka and will also work with Rio 2016 Olympian and Commonwealth Games silver medalist Brittany O’Brien in the three-meter springboard synchronized diving.

The Fukoaka Championships also provide qualifying spots for next year’s Olympics in Paris.
