Manchester United have announced that Brazilian winger Antony will return to training after allegations of domestic violence were made against him.
It is understood the 23-year-old spoke to Greater Manchester Police on Thursday and no restrictions were placed on him following the interview.
United sources say he has provided evidence to support his strong denial of the allegations.
He has not been arrested or charged in Brazil or the United Kingdom.
In a statement, the club said: “As Antony’s employer, Manchester United have decided that he will resume training at Carrington and be available for selection while the police investigation continues.”
“This will be reviewed as the case develops further.”
Antony is not expected to be at training on Friday and will not be considered for United’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday.
He has missed four games since United placed him on full pay leave to deal with allegations from three different women, including his former partner Gabriela Cavallin.
Brazilian news agency UOL published allegations from Cavallin on September 4th, in which she accused Antony of attacking her “with a headbutt” in a hotel room in Manchester on January 15th, causing her to suffer a cut on her head, which was confirmed by a doctor had to be treated.
Cavallin also claims she was struck in the chest, damaging a silicone breast implant, which required corrective surgery.
Two more allegations followed when Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana each claimed Antony assaulted them in 2022, which he denies.
Lana, a 33-year-old banker, claimed in an interview with Brazilian broadcaster Record TV that she hit her head in his Manchester home in October last year when Antony “pushed her against the wall”.
“Since the first allegations were made in June, Antony has cooperated and continues to cooperate with police investigations in both Brazil and the United Kingdom,” United said.
“As an association, we condemn acts of violence and abuse.”
“We recognize the importance of protecting everyone involved in this situation and recognize the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
