ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – The last lap is the only lap that pays, and Brent Marks certainly put that mentality into practice Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway, earning his fifth win on the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 secured with one last win in 2022. Lap pass by Anthony Macri.
Marks was a marquee win, to say the least, and he earned his triumph at Lincoln’s annual Dirt Classic by securing a $20,000 payday while taking his overall win for the season to 17.
Despite being 10th on the Dirt Classic grid, which was compiled on a points system accumulated over qualifiers and doubles, Marks began his march right off the top of the green and actually propelled himself to a top 5 position ahead of just a quarter of the 40 lappers on the books. Meanwhile, Macri remained in command and did whatever it took to hold off early challenges of the race from defending Dirt Classic Champion Justin Peck.
Eventually, Marks worked his way up to third place around Cory Eliason and then slipped past Justin Peck on lap 34 for second. Mark’s new target was Anthony Macri, who continued to work Lincoln’s outside line. It was the final caution of Main Event on Round 36, resulting in open red conditions that set up Mark’s eventual takeover.

Marks worked Lincoln’s bottom groove and used the last handful of laps to get closer and closer to the No. 39m. When the white flag flew, Marks was on Marcri’s tail tank, driving hard into Turn One to slide over the nose of the youngest Tuscarora 50 Champion. The train stalled, securing another crown jewel.
Macri stayed second followed by Peck, Buddy Kofoid and Tyler Courtney.
“I didn’t expect them to open the last red… I’m not usually a fan of that. It worked out for us tonight,” said Marks. “Man, that was a fun race. The track turned out great. Just a great night and I’m so proud of this team. I was actually quite disappointed to have to start tenth because there were a lot of good cars in front of us. I thought the track was too fast to gain ground, but we made it.”
