AFC Wimbledon 0-1 Sutton United

Captain Craig Eastmond fired Sutton for a long-awaited first away win of the season after a hard-fought 1-0 win at local rivals AFC Wimbledon.

After a dismal run of four straight losses, Matt Gray’s team got three points in time.

Wimbledon was first to threaten when Jack Currie’s missed shot kindly fell for Josh Davison to stab wide.

At the other end, it took Nik Tzanev two tries to save Donovan Wilson’s strike before Sutton goalkeeper Lewis Ward saved Harry Pell’s header.

But the deadlock was broken after half an hour when Tzanev fumbled again, this time spilling a Rob Milson free-kick and allowing Sutton skipper Eastmond to hammer the ball home off the underside of the bar.

As a result, Dons manager Johnnie Jackson was booked for his touchline protests after appealing for a foul under construction.

Tzanev helped disappoint Will Randall and Josh Neufville with great second-half saves, but Sutton secured the win for a welcome three points.
