CLEVELAND, Texas — Koty Adams led Ollie’s “Cajun Region” from start to finish in the opener of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco at 105 Speedway Saturday night.
The event marked Ollie’s first of five scheduled appearances in the “Cajun Region” at the facility on the outskirts of Houston and Round #1 of 15 in the 2023 Day Motor Sports points streak.
The Haughton, La. driver raised $1,200 for his efforts in the 25-lap main lap of Autism Awareness Night.
Adams dominated the caution-free event and took the checkered flag by more than a margin over runner-up Keith Badiali.
However, not everything was smooth.
“We started with water in the fuel on hot laps,” said Adams. “We fixed that.
“Great track surface. It looked like it would end up taking rubber down the middle.”
Adams dedicated the win to his car owner Frank Lofton, who underwent cancer surgery on Friday.
“He let me race anyway,” Adams said. “This is for him.”
Badiali ran second over the entire distance. Kodey Keimig completed a triple pass on the outside lane around Chase Hatton and a lapped car to take the final podium spot with five laps to go.
Hatton and Tommy Rascoe completed the top five.
Heat winners were Rascoe and Adams.
Two-time and reigning series champion Caleb Dillard was unable to start the feature after an incident in the heat race.
