2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo unveiled

The introduction of the 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo EVs add two to the manufacturer’s electric car range. According to Porsche, the two join the equipment variants Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S, which fit between 4S and Turbo.

Porsche has already used the GTS emblem to describe a curated mix of performance and luxury. The new Taycan panels follow the theme, with the Taycan GTS sedan based on the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo from the Taycan Cross Turismo station wagon. The decisive factor is that the new Taycan GTS Sport Turismo shares the body layout and the glass roof of the Cross Turismo, but dispenses with the increased ride height and the visual cues that indicate its all-weather and all-road c -ability. In addition, it shares its ride height and most of its visual cues with the sedan.

2022 Taycan GTS drive and performance

The Taycan GTS sedan and the Sport Turismo use the same front and rear permanent magnet motors and a two-speed rear gearbox. The engines have a combined output of 490 hp. Both new GTS models use an 800-volt architecture and a standard 93.4 kWh battery, as do the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. According to Porsche, the battery can be charged from 5-80% in 22.5 minutes. Porsche has not yet named a range for the GTS models, but the Taycan Turbo 2021 with the same “Performance Battery Plus” is rated at 212 miles by the EPA. In addition, Porsche states that the Taycan GTS sedan and Sport Turismo can run from 0 to 100 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The suspension and performance hardware is the same as the Taycan Turbo S, but uses a unique GTS calibration and adjustment. Red calipers (six-piston front, four-piston rear) grip the rotors enlarged from the 4S (15.35 “by 14.1” front). Ceramic and tungsten carbide coated brake upgrades are available. The artificially generated “Porsche Electric Sport Sound” has been deepened and louder for GTS. In addition, numerous performance enhancements are available, including ad -tive air suspension, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and the Sport Chrono Package.

Design and functions

While the GTS models share many features and design elements with the top models Taycan Turbo and Turbo S, the GTS uses the SportDesign front  -ron and side skirts and has a high-gloss black side window panel and a high-gloss black rear diffuser insert. The body bears GTS logos on the sides and on the rear. Satin black 20-inch Taycan Turbo S Aero Design wheels come as standard. The Matrix PDLS Plus headlights are tinted black, the exterior mirrors are in the vehicle color at the top and black at the bottom.

The new Taycan Sport Turismo optionally offers roof rails and provisions for mounting a Tequipment bike rack on the rear of the vehicle.

A Race-Tex interior package dresses the cabin and the interior is made of brushed black aluminum with black accents. In addition, buyers can upgrade the interior with the GTS interior package to get different seams, GTS embroidery, the Sport Chrono instrument dial and the Porsche logo on the floor mats.

The 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan starts at $ 132,750 and the Sport Turismo starts at $ 134,350, both including a target fee of $ 1,350. Interested customers can order GTS models with immediate effect, with delivery starting in the second quarter of 2022.
