Who has the best chance of winning the 2024 NBA Finals?

While the first in-season tournament represents an exciting new challenge for NBA fans, bettors, teams and players, the main goal of every team remains the same: win an NBA championship. Still, the majority of bettors will be significantly more interested in betting on which franchise will raise the next championship banner than they will likely ever be in betting on the NBA Cup. Below we present the updated BetMGM odds for the 2024 NBA Finals, a futures market available to the betting public all season long.

BetMGM, an authorized gaming partner of the NBA, offers some of the most competitive odds on futures like MVP, Rookie of the Year and the Finals. Unlike some futures markets that require bettors to place their bets before the season begins, BetMGM's futures odds markets remain open year-round.

When it comes to betting on this season's eventual champions, the conversation can't begin without mentioning the towering Celtics (+375), who are the busiest franchise of the summer in terms of acquisitions. Boston is hoping that Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis in green will finally get the 18th banner raised to the rafters at TD Garden.

Of course, we can't go much further without mentioning two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and the reigning champion Nuggets (+425). Michael Malone's team essentially bounced back in the offseason after a dominant postseason run in 2023, but many would argue that Denver has actually gotten better from an outside shooting perspective. Joker and Co. will provide more fun throughout the season in their fast-paced quest for a repeat title.

Two-time MVP and NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks (+450) might have something to say about Joker's chances. With the Greek Freak now teamed up with fellow offensive giant Damian Lillard, there may be no limits to Adrian Griffin's dynamic offense.

Speaking of dynamic attacks, the West also has a lot of flair outside of the Rocky Mountains. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and the Suns (+700) looked virtually unstoppable when healthy during the 2022-23 season, and Phoenix will be an unfortunate stop for any team that comes up short against them in the playoffs starts.

Then there are the four strong offenses from Cali, the 2022 champion Warriors (+1300), the 2020 champion Lakers (+1800), the 2022 breakout Kings (+6600) and the eternally hopeful Clippers (+2200). . Steph Curry has proven time and time again that the Dubs should never be taken lightly, while the Kings and Lakers proved last season that a team, young or old, can make a big splash in the postseason if they things get hot at the right time.

This is great news for hot young teams like the Timberwolves (+2500), Thunder (+6600), Pelicans (+5000) and Pacers (+20000). It's also great news for the older squads like reigning MVP Joel Embiid and the 76ers (+1400), the reigning Eastern Conference champion Heat (+4000) and the feisty Mavericks (+2500), Cavaliers (+2500) and Knicks (+5000). Any team that continues to improve and develop over the course of the season (on and off the field) has a chance of reaching the chip.

Of course, as this latest assessment suggests, the 2024 NBA Finals odds will fluctuate throughout the year. So if bettors are interested in how and why this market moves, they can add value when an opportunity presents itself. An unfortunate injury that sidelines a key player for a period of time, a drop in performance at a key cog in a team's system, or a difficult trade could cause a team's NBA Finals odds to drop.

On the other hand, a star player going into the boiler room, a team going on a big winning streak, or even just a team pulling a big upset on national television can all impact a team's chances of winning the next Larry O' Increase Brien Trophy. Futures betting is all about value, so timing can be just as important as live betting. This column makes it easier for you to continually monitor the odds, trends and movements throughout the season so you can make informed, high-quality bets.
