Stock market news today | Sensex, Nifty, Stock Quotes LIVE: Indian benchmark indices opened a gap lower amid weak global signals and a surge in crude oil prices. The BSE Sensex fell 400 points to 55,525 while the NSE Nifty 50 lost 100 points to 16,560. Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Sun Pharma, HDFC, Infosys, HCL Tech, Titan, Kotak Bank, Wipro, TCS and Tech Mahindra were the biggest laggards, falling 1-2 percent. PowerGrid, M&M, Tata Steel and NTPC were the only winners. In broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices opened unchanged. Sectorally, autos, metals, PSU Bank and Realty stocks rose. On the other hand, IT, financial services and FMCG stocks were down.
