Domestic equity benchmarks started Monday’s session weak amid selling pressures in financials. Divi’s Lab was the top Nifty50 early deals winner, up nearly 1 percent. Cipla, Tata Consumer, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra were among the other blue-chip top performers. On the other hand, ICICI Bank was the biggest straggler, down almost 2 percent. UPL, SBI, Tata Motors and Axis Bank were among the losers. Zomato shares, listed on Friday, gained 4 percent in early trading.

Hang Sang index falls 3% due to regulatory action against education companies
Asia stocks hit 7-month lows
Asian stocks slid to a seven-month low on Monday as regulatory concerns turned Chinese stocks on its head and strong US corporate earnings pulled money from emerging markets to Wall Street. Chinese blue chips lost 2.4% to their lowest level in 10 weeks as the education and real estate sectors were distracted by concerns about tougher government regulations. As a result, the broadest MSCI index for Asia Pacific stocks outside of J -an fell 1.4% to its lowest level since early January. J -an’s Nikkei rebounded 1.4%, but that was a seven-month low.

The five Nifty50 companies Kotak Mahindra Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Tata Motors and SBI Life Insurance will today announce their quarterly results for June. SBI Life Insurance, Vedanta, DLF, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, Coromandel International, Navin Fluorin, M&M Financial Services, and Alembic Pharmaceuticals are some other companies that will announce their quarterly results today.
SGX Nifty signals a negative start
Nifty Futures on the Sing -ore Exchange was trading 102 points, or 0.64 percent, lower at 15,752, suggesting Dalal Street was off to a negative start on Monday.
Tech View: Refined cops are indecisive when it comes to highs
Nifty50 closed where it opened on Friday, forming a doji cross candle on the daily chart. The chart pattern indicated indecision among traders at the immediate resistance of 15,900. Nifty50’s battle with the 15,900 mark was clearly reflected in Friday’s intraday high of 15,899.80! Moving past 15,900 would be a test for the Nifty50 bulls, analysts said.
Dollar holds near multi-month highs as Fed meeting is in focus
The US dollar hovered near its strongest level since early -ril against the euro on Monday as financial markets waited for the Fed’s Open Markets Committee (FOMC) meeting this week for clues as to when the economic slowdown would take place. The dollar index, which measures the currency against six major competitors, opened the week at 92.920, following the 3-1 / 2-month high of 93.194 the previous week.
China stocks fall in early trading
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.35 percent or 12.38 points to 3,538.01 points. The Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second stock exchange lost 0.30 percent or 7.35 points to 2,460.79.
Hong Kong stocks open significantly lower sharp
Hong Kong stocks started falling Monday morning as tech companies took another blow from China’s enforcement of the sector. The Hang Seng Index fell 1.82 percent, or 496.25 points, to 26,825.73.
Tokyo stocks open higher on US rallies
Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday as investors took heart from the Wall Street rallies and overcame fears about the spread of the coronavirus delta strain. The Nikkei 225 benchmark index rose 1.66 percent or 457.47 points to 28,005.47 points in early trading. The broader Topix index gained 1.62 percent, or 30.81 points, to 1,935.22 points.
US stocks on Friday
Wall Street gained ground for the fourth consecutive year on Friday and continued a rally that pushed all three major US stock indices to record highs as bullish gains and signs of economic recovery fueled investor risk -petite. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 238.2 points, or 0.68%, to 35,061.55, the S&P 500 gained 44.31 points, or 1.01%, to 4,411.79, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 152.39 points, or 1 .04% to 14,836.99.
FPIs are pulling Rs 5,689 cr from Indian stocks so far in July
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) dumped over Rs.5,689 billion in Indian stocks in July as they continued to adopt a cautious stance on various domestic and global factors. From July 1 to July 23, the FPIs withdrew Rs 5,689.23 billion of stocks, according to data from the custody accounts. During that time they invested Rs 3,190.76 billion in the debt segment.
Rupee Reduces Early Losses to Close 6 Paise Against the Dollar
The rupee trimmed its early losses and closed 6 paises higher at 74.40 against the US dollar on Friday, rising for the third straight year on weak crude oil prices and gains in domestic stocks. However, a stronger dollar in overseas markets weighed on rupee sentiment.
Sensex, Nifty on Friday
The stock benchmark Sensex rose 139 points on Friday after ICICI Bank, ITC and SBI rose in a largely positive trend in global markets. The 30-share BSE index finished 138.59 points, or 0.26 percent, higher at 52,975.80, while the broader NSE Nifty rose 32 points, or 0.20 percent, to 15,856.05. ICICI Bank was the top winners in the Sensex Pack with a plus of over 3 percent, followed by ITC, SBI, HCL Tech, Axis Bank and Bajaj Finserv.
