With the 2023 NFL season upon us, betting lines are officially live for all of the most popular futures markets. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the latest bet splits at BetMGM for the NFL Outrights category.
The Chiefs, Bengals and 49ers share the highest win total on the board at OU 11.5, but according to BetMGM that number doesn’t deter Kansas City bettors in the win totals market – currently it’s 98% cash and 89% of tickets go to them reigning champions who exceed this number.
Believe it or not, Kansas City isn’t the most popular payout on the board as bettors seem to be flocking to some of the smaller payouts early on.
Based on the number of tickets sold, the most popular overplays were the Patriots at 7.5 and the Broncos at 8.5 – with 94% of the bets going for the Patriots to beat their forecast, versus 93% of the tickets Fall is helping Sean Payton fix the ship back to Denver.
However, the money splits tell a slightly different story.
Teams like the Dolphins and Cowboys are still very popular “over” options in their respective fan markets – with 99% of the money going into Dallas winning over 10.5 games, while 99% of the money going into Miami winning as well over 9.5.
Currently, however, teams like Dallas and Miami aren’t garnering enough attention in the mainstream markets to garner much of the overall responsibility. So where is all the money?
A select few teams in particular seem to dominate the conversation when it comes to NFL overall wins.
In terms of dollar amount, the Vikings are sneakily the most “over” bets on the field, although BetMGM has received about a 50/50 split of tickets on “over-under” so far.
The Patriots and Chiefs also take a large percentage of the over money, but by and large this appears to be an accumulation of public action as more than 89% of tickets in these two markets make the over. support.
Speaking of the public game, the Cardinals have the most stakes at BetMGM at OU 4.5 when it comes to the number of tickets placed. However, the Sharps seem to have a different style of play in mind.
As of June 29, the 49ers got about 59% of the tickets for the over and 41% for the under—but at the same time, 61% of the money wagered went to the under in that particular market.
The Buccaneers and Raiders were also popular fade options at OU 6.5, with over 80% of the tickets going to the “under” of these two teams – which the public and the Sharps finally agree on, as over 80% of them agree too these two teams are in the red.
