Black Sesame International Holding Ltd., a Xiaomi-backed developer of artificial intelligence-based self-driving computer chips, has applied for an IPO in Hong Kong to raise fresh funding as the global auto industry accelerates its transition to electrification and automated driving.
Black Sesame, whose main investors include Tencent Holdings Ltd. and SAIC Motor Corp. ltd Count plans to use the proceeds from its IPO next year primarily to develop system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs and software for smart vehicles, according to the prospectus filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Friday which will last three years and advance its commercialization.
