The head of the Supervision Department of Microfinance Institutions and Other Financial Services Institutions of the OJK, Edi Setijawan, said that so far the majority of financing sources for fintech companies still come from corporate investors, which is why the OJK encourages fintechs to obtain financing from retail investors.

“Of course, when we look at fintech investors, many of them are still direct companies, yes, the investors still come from companies.” “Of course it would be even better if they entered the capital market,” said Edi , when he met on Thursday (November 23, 2023) on the sidelines of the “Indonesian Business Challenge 2024” event.

Please note that according to POJK Number 10 of 2022, fintech companies are required to have equity capital or a minimum capital of IDR 2.5 billion in 2023. The minimum capital rule will be gradually increased to IDR 7.5 billion in 2024 and IDR 12.5 billion in 2025.

However, based on data as of August 31, 2023, out of the 101 fintech P2P lending providers, there are still 27 that do not meet the minimum equity requirement of IDR 2.5 billion.

“We set a minimum capital of IDR 2.5 billion this year, next year it will be IDR 7.5 billion. So that’s what P2P lenders need to comply with,” he said.
