(Madison) Governor Tony Evers, along with Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers and Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation Director Mary Monroe Brown, announced that the state's outdoor recreation industry will generate a record $9.8 billion in 2022. dollars contributed to the state's economy, representing a 6.8 percent increase from 2021.
The report showed that it was the highest contribution since tracking began in 2018.
According to Governor Evers, outdoor recreation is at the core of Wisconsin's culture and identity, adding that people come from far and wide to participate in various activities.
According to Tourism Secretary Sayers, nature is consistently cited as the main reason people come to Wisconsin and he is incredibly proud of the work of the Office of Outdoor Recreation.
Mary Monroe, director of outdoor recreation, added that the historic numbers are a testament to the importance of the outdoor recreation industry to the state.
