The Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE) and the Association of Employers' Organizations of Ukraine (AEOU) are preparing an emergency extraordinary congress dedicated to measures to support the sustainability of the economy and increase its self-sufficiency under martial law. This emerges from ULIE's press release.
“The third year of Russia's all-out war against Ukraine has made it clear that this is a battle of resource depletion. “The Ukrainian economy needs immediate additional measures to increase GDP, production and solvency of the domestic market,” the association said.
Currently, 47% of state budget revenue is generated through external financial assistance. Every hryvnia of state budget revenue is used for Ukraine's defense needs.
“Given the risks of a decrease in volumes or a delay in receiving assistance from partners, as well as the need to increase the purchase of weapons, open our own factories for the defense industry, etc., joint efforts of the state and business are needed to improve the economy Developing capacities are important. “This is a question of national security,” emphasizes the ULIE.
ULIE and AEOU supported the initiative of the President of Ukraine to launch the “Made in Ukraine” economic platform and other presidential decrees to strengthen dialogue and partnership between the government and entrepreneurs. Together with other business associations, ULIE signed a joint declaration with the Cabinet of Ministers on cooperation.
The Congress will consider concrete measures to increase production in Ukraine, especially in high value-added goods, manufacturing and innovative industrial sectors.
In addition, particular attention will be paid to the consolidation of civil society, the primacy of the rule of law, the equality of all before the law, the fight against corruption and a dialogue between the government and non-governmental organizations based on respect, trust and transparency.
Representatives of the Parliament, the Presidential Office, the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Security and Defense Council, economic and non-governmental organizations of Ukraine, trade unions, think tanks and volunteer communities are invited to participate in the Congress.
As the GMK Center previously reported, the implementation of the “Made in Ukraine” policy will provide at least 1% additional GDP growth in 2024, as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy previously noted Julia Svyrdenko. Up to 40% of the money spent on purchasing Ukrainian goods is returned to the security and defense forces through taxes.
