BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) – Fans from across the Valley are looking forward to tonight's Region IV-5A title football game between Brownsville Veterans and Corpus Christi Miller.
Sams Stadium will accommodate more than 11,000 fans for tonight's sold-out game.
For those who were unable to purchase a ticket, there are watch parties throughout the city at local Brownsville area businesses.
The football parties and celebrations are expected to bring an economic boost to businesses and the city.
“We have noticed that more and more new people are coming. We have a lot of people coming to the veterans audition,” said Licis Gonzalez, manager of Morning Glory Restaurant.
Companies were already seeing large numbers in their branches on Friday morning.
“We also have a lot of people coming over with their friends, having big tables, gathering for parties and getting ready for the game,” Gonzalez said.
Local restaurants have been preparing for today's game for over a week by stocking up on produce to ensure they have what they need for their customers.
“We actually had our pitmaster put together an extra batch of grilled food,” said Aldo Ceja, general manager of 1848 BBQ.

“As far as beer orders go, we went all out and started stocking a lot of stuff that we think people would be interested in,” Ceja added.
Nathan Burkhart, vice president of the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation, says this game will bring a lot of business to local businesses.
He adds that tonight's game isn't the only event in town.
“I think we're going to see a really good residual economic impact from everything that happens in downtown Brownsville, from Sams Stadium to a game to Zoo Lights at the Gladys Porter Zoo and First Friday,” Burkhart said. “Downtown restaurants and downtown retail stores are really going to have a good week.”
Gilbert Rendon, the owner of the New York Deli, says tonight's football game is the biggest event to happen to the city in the nearly 40 years his family has operated their business in Brownsville.
He's increased his kitchen staff to prepare for the crowd after the game, something he says he's never had to do for an event before.
“Other than the fact that they were victorious tonight, that’s the best thing. You know what I mean? If we could win and have a few more dollars, that would be even better,” Rendon said.
Kick-off for today's game is scheduled for 7 p.m
