With the warmer weather, it’s time to think about how to grow – or buy – fresh, local food.
Fortunately, the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market offers a great opportunity for people to buy and sell fresh, local food and is looking for farmers, growers, food producers, craftspeople, musicians and local organizations to participate in the upcoming market season.
All markets are held at the Marquette Commons at 112 S. Third St.
“Our market is an incubator for small businesses”, said market manager Sara Johnson in a press release. “We are looking for applicants who are passionate about what they do and want to bring an idea to life.
Flexible commitment options are available for full-time, part-time, and drop-in providers who can choose to participate in:
≤ Saturday morning market, 9am to 1pm, May 21 to November 19.
≤ Wednesday evening market, 4pm to 7pm, June 15th to September 14th.
≤ The Holiday Market, 10am to 2pm, December 3rd to 17th.
Flexible commitment options include:
≤ Full-time Vendors: These vendors are typically reserved for older vendors and commit to each market for a specific season. Benefits include reduced weekly fees and a dedicated stand for the duration of the season.
≤ Part-Time Sellers: Sellers who have a seasonal product or limited inventory make ideal part-time sellers, according to the DMFM. Benefits include reduced weekly fees and pre-scheduled appointments based on provider availability.
≤ Drop-in Contributors: This includes new businesses, first-time visitors, guest artists, or someone testing an idea. DMFM said it will ask about a vendor’s availability and will notify them if any vacancies arise.
Any products offered for sale at the market must be made by those selling them, DMFM said, with kits, imports or resale items not allowed. Priority is given to those using local ingredients and products.
