President Joe Biden traveled to Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 15, to highlight his economic policies in a state critical to his re-election.
His arrival in Milwaukee came on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, a major economic law he ceremonially signed into law, but polls show most people know little about it or what it does.
President Biden began his speech by discussing the devastating wildfires in Hawaii.
“I immediately agreed to the governor’s request for expedited reporting of a major disaster. It’s a fancy way of saying, “Whatever you need, you’ll get it.” And it puts help in the hands of people who need it badly and have lost loved ones. who have lost their homes and livelihoods; damaged and destroyed,” he said.
The President spent about two hours at Ingeteam, a clean energy manufacturer for onshore wind turbines in Milwaukee. It was part of a larger discussion about investing in manufacturing, clean energy and jobs.
“But today I came to Milwaukee to talk about what we are doing to bring manufacturing back home. It is about our progress in building a center-out, bottom-up economy, not a top-down approach. You know, when we — it’s this trickle-down economics. Not much landed on my father’s kitchen table. But when the middle works and the bottom has a rebound, the rich are doing very well,” the president said.
“It’s really something fundamental: We just decided to reinvest in America,” Biden said Tuesday. “That’s what it’s about.”
According to Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, Biden’s economic plan will result in a boom in manufacturing and manufacturing investment.

150,000 new jobs have been created in the state of Wisconsin. Nearly 800,000 new manufacturing jobs across the country. More than 20,000 manufacturing jobs in Wisconsin, from Green Bay to Verona to Pleasant Prairie.
“More jobs in two years than any other president in American history has in a four-year term.” Two times more than four,” Biden said. “The unemployment rate in Wisconsin is only 2.5 percent. That is less than every single month in the previous government.”
Biden said his ideas are at odds with the “conservative Republican view, the so-called MAGA view, which focuses on corporate profits.” He addressed Republican Senator Ron Johnson and said Johnson believes outsourcing manufacturing jobs is one great thing. The President addressed the investments flowing back into US manufacturing through the Chips and Science Act, the bipartisan Infrastructure Act, the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). But surveys show that most people don’t know much about it or what it does.
“You know, we have more to do with inflation though. It is currently only around 3 percent and is expected to fall further. “We’re near bottom for over two years,” he said.
And at the same time, wages for low-wage workers have risen at the fastest rate in two decades. Wages are growing faster than inflation. “Guys, this is Bidenomics. It’s about growing an economy by strengthening the middle class and making things in America again. Well, through the bipartisan infrastructure bill, we’ve already announced 37,000 projects in 4,500 communities across America, including, as the governor mentioned, hundreds of projects here in Wisconsin.”
The President gave examples of current projects.
“We are investing $80 million to replace the interstate bridge over the Wisconsin River in Columbia County. This is an important route connecting people to Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago. Since taking office, I have seen more than $3 billion in private investment in clean energy manufacturing across Wisconsin. This is Bidenomics. That’s an investment in America.” “It’s time to build American products in America,” he said.
