PEORIA (25News Now) – The 96th annual Itoo Supper fundraiser in Peoria comes at a time of need for Lebanon, according to one of the event organizers.
Homemade Lebanese dining has been around since 1928. This year marks the return to indoor dining for the first time since 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic limited dining to takeout, drive-thru and advance orders.
The goal is to raise between $25,000 and $30,000 to help people in Lebanon.
“Lebanon’s economy is currently in shambles and the people or relatives in Itoo village are certainly feeling this as much as in the rest of the country,” said Joe Couri of the Itoo Society.
“That’s why we sent many, many thousands of dollars back to our relatives in Itoo to support them with medicine, food and heating oil. That’s certainly a big focus for us these days,” Couri said.
The Itoo Dinner will be held this weekend, Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th at the Itoo Hall at 4909 West Farmington Road.
Saturday’s drive-thru pre-order sales are full, but there are still tickets left for Sunday. They can be purchased on site.
