WEAR – Manufacturing jobs could be a major driver of North Carolina’s future economy, including clean energy jobs.
So says Roy Cooper, Gov. of North Carolina, speaking Wednesday morning at an event held in person at SAS headquarters in Cary.
“We have what it takes here to create an advanced manufacturing center that is second to none,” Cooper said in his opening remarks at the MFG Day 2022 launch event.
Cooper highlighted recent achievements in the state’s economic development, including VinFast, Boom Supersonic, Forza X1, and Toyota’s two recent investments in the state, noting that these companies come to North Carolina with the expectation that the workforce will… state have the skills needed to fill the expected jobs in their manufacturing operations.
“When I talk to CEOs,” Cooper said, “the top three topics are workforce, workforce and workforce.”
