In this week’s episode we talk about the local economy as a number of interesting factors collide. On the one hand, the country’s economy is shrinking as inflation and other factors push up gas prices – leading to shortages at the pump and in the supermarket. Las Cruces is certainly not immune to these big factors – but according to an economist we spoke to, we could be a little more isolated.
We’ll be speaking to Sun News reporter Algernon D’Ammassa, who has been following several facets of this story fairly closely. We’ll talk about the state’s recent legalization of recreational cannabis sales, the nationwide nursing shortage, and other factors.

And finally, we speak to Meg Potter – the newest addition to our editorial team. Meg is a photojournalist — or visual journalist — who just started last week. We talk about her experiences, what drives her, and how she’s settling into a new town in the desert southwest.
