Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will deliver a statement on the global economy on Thursday.
The central bank has repeatedly raised interest rates over the past year and a half to curb inflation. However, the economy remained surprisingly resilient and inflation is still well above the Fed’s 2 percent target.
The October jobs report released last week fell short of expectations as the U.S. economy added 150,000 jobs and the unemployment rate rose to 3.9 percent.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. ET.
