Economist discusses the economy of the “billionaires”.

Economist Peter S. Goodman will discuss the global economy at a Zoom forum hosted by the Praxis Peace Institute on July 22.

Goodman is the author of Davos Man: How the Billionaires Devoured the World, an incredible account of world power structures and a must-read for all concerned citizens. “Goodman has done extensive research and presents the reader with a sober look at the business world we live in and the power players that dominate the scene,” said Praxis in an announcement for the event.

Goodman is the global business correspondent for The New York Times and lives in New York. Over the course of three decades in journalism, he has covered multiple economic transformations and upheavals: the rise of China to become a global superpower as Shanghai bureau chief for The Washington Post; the advent of the internet followed by the dot.com crash as a technology reporter for the post office in DC; and as a writer for the London Times on Brexit, the rise of right-wing populism in Europe and the persistence of economic apartheid in South Africa.

Goodman is also the author of Past Due: The End of Easy Money and the Renewal of the American Economy.

Goodman’s presentation is at 4 p.m. on Zoom. $20 general; $15 for practice members. Register at praxispeace.org/events.
