Byron Donalds on the economy in 2024 and his potential role as Trump’s vice president

Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joins a wide-ranging discussion on the biggest issues facing Americans in 2024 and the future of politics on the Forbes Newsroom. Speaking to Forbes in 2022, he pointed out that inflation is the biggest problem facing Americans. Over a year later, he still agrees.

“The impact of inflation over the last two and a half years has hit every American,” Donalds told Forbes. Inflation hit a two-year low in June, but prices remain resilient. The solution, according to the Florida Republican? “The number one thing we’re trying to do on Capitol Hill is to cut spending… Inflation comes from the government pumping too much money into an economy.”

This calendar year, former President Donald Trump has been indicted twice, and most recently he has been charged with three other federal crimes related to the White House documents case. The charges don’t deter Donalds from his support, they “encourage” it, and the Florida Republican still endorses Trump for president in 2024. If Donald Trump won the GOP’s presidential nomination, Byron Donalds would be interested in becoming his vice president become?

“Yes, it’s an honor,” Donalds told Forbes. “When you are asked to serve in that capacity, who says no?”
