ECONOMY — Beaver County is currently recruiting lifeguards to work at the pool at Old Economy Park for the upcoming season.
Tony Caltury, the county’s director of recreation and tourism, said that in previous years the park would be open for the first time on Memorial Day weekend and not until the following weekend to allow the Ambridge Area school district to finish its school year early fully open seven days a week thereafter.
However, he said the county is struggling to get lifeguards as they only have four and said the county needs at least eight to open the full seven days.
He said if the county doesn’t get the minimum safe number of lifeguards, officials would have to consider only opening the pool on select days of the week, such as only weekends.
