Zac Efron Was One Of The Many Celebrities Who Left Hollywood During The Pandemic. Now He’s Living Out Of A Van?
Zac Efron made the same transition as other actors during the pandemic when he left the United States for Australia. After selling his Los Angeles estate, he moved to the beachfront oasis of Byron Bay in 2021. Now it seems the High School Musical actor spends his days living in a van.
While Zac Efron has property over in Byron Bay and occasionally visits LA for his friends and career, he currently lives a fairly ephemeral lifestyle. He told Men’s Health what the benefits of living in a van have done for his life.
I’m in a van trying to travel and see as much of the world as possible or just go hiking and camping in the woods.
With this new life transition, Zac Efron lives easy. He owns ten t-shirts, five pairs of track shorts, a pair of pants, a pair of sweatshirts, and two Lululemon shorts and hoodie tracksuits that he wears constantly. The Summerland actor has shown his love for travel in recent years while filming the Down to Earth documentaries with Zac Efron, which Twitter couldn’t get enough of. He explored the wonders of the world visiting countries like France, Puerto Rico, London, Iceland, Costa Rica, Peru and Sardinia to discover sustainable ways of living and being one with nature. This series makes me even more excited to see him in season 2 where he will swim with dolphins!
No wonder Zac Efron moved to Byron Bay in the Land Down Under while sleeping on a hammock in the trees, dated Australian model Vanessa Valladares before their split after ten months, and swam in the moonlight with phosphorescent plankton. But when Efron and Australian actor Chris Hemsworth moved to the same Australian area, some Australians didn’t want her there. While it may be quite a spectacle when torn celebrities film their big movie productions in the area, it can also drive up real estate prices for residents and become a major tourist attraction. While these are reasonable cons for living among celebrities, these A-list actors have every right to start new lives where they see fit.
The next adventure Zac Efron tries to seek is his need for depth in his career. He looked up to actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Pattinson because they chose roles that would set them apart from their former teenage acting selves. In the new AppleTV+ movie The Greatest Beer Run Ever, based on the true story of John “Chickie” Donohue, who shipped beers to his hometown friends who were fighting overseas during the Vietnam War, he gets a chance to meet the new… To snatch the career start he’s longed for. While this may seem like Efron is reviving a version of his previous comedic roles, he will actually balance humor with his character’s portrayal of humanity. In fact, the film’s director, Green Book’s Peter Farrelly, said that early viewers were well into the film before they realized it was Zac Efron on screen!
The 34-year-old actor appears to be living his best life outside of Hollywood with just him and his van. We have a chance to see the Daytime Emmy Award winner disappear in his role on The Greatest Beer Run Ever on September 30th with your Apple TV+ subscription.
