Who are the sporting celebrities running the 2023 Boston Marathon?

Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge is the main attraction for spectators and spectators at the 2023 Boston Marathon.

Professional athletes and other celebrities will also put their running and endurance skills to the test to achieve personal fitness goals or raise money for charity.

Here are some other famous faces who met the qualifying criteria, and fans lining the streets of Boston could try to spot them.

Monica Puig

Like the great Kipchoge, Olympic tennis gold medalist Monica Puig has a mission to run all six major world marathons. The Rio 2016 Olympic champion, Now retired from professional tennis, he took to the streets of New York for the 2022 marathon, crossing the finish line in 4:32:39.

After completing her second major marathon in Boston, she travels to the UK to compete in the London Marathon on April 23rd.

“I’ve been able to learn new things in this new running journey and still use the tools I learned as a professional tennis player,” she said in an interview with Olympics.com ahead of the New York Marathon.

Ryan Dempster

Another star making his Boston Marathon debut is the former Red Sox baseball pitcher Ryan Dempster. It will be an emotional moment for Dempster when he performed for the Sox 10 years ago on April 15, the day of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. This blast killed three people and injured another 281. Dempster will run for a foundation set up by von’s family Lingzi Lu, the Lingzi Foundation, one of the victims of the bombing.

Brock Holt

Dempster is joined on the starting line by a former Red Sox player Brock Holt. The American former pro baseball star, best known for his role as a utility player, won two World Series. He will run with his wife Lakyn to raise funds and raise awareness of childhood cancer by supporting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“I never thought I would volunteer to run 26.2 miles, but I couldn’t be more excited to do it,” Holt posted on his social media.

Zdeno Chara

Six-time NHL All-Star and three-time Olympian Zdeno Chara will also compete in Boston.

The former Boston Bruins legend announced in March that he will be running his first marathon in support of two charities with ties to Boston. The Slovakian former professional ice hockey defenseman retired last year after 34 seasons in the NHL. He played seven World Cups and led Slovakia to silver in 2012**. At his last Olympic Games in Sochi 2014**, Chara was the flag bearer of Slovakia.

David Ortiz

Also keep an eye on the race starters at the Hopkinton. Along with Dempster and Holt, baseball legends David Ortiz will serve as Grand Marshal. after a speech the three-time world champion will ceremoniously lead the field of over 30,000 participants at the start before heading to the finish line (not on foot though) to cheer on the finishers.
