Which celebrities unmasked on ‘New York Night’? [UPDATING LIVE BLOG]

The Masked Singer celebrates the Big Apple! This week’s episode encompasses both the glamor and ferocity of the city that never sleeps, as two new contestants take on last week’s reigning champion and sing a collection of songs synonymous with New York history.

Season 9 contestants have a total of 28 Emmy nominations, 6 Grammy wins, 10 Gold Albums, 4 Golden Globe nominations, 5 Medals, 26 Books, 2 Tony Award nominations, 5 Lifetime Achievement Awards, 4 Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a combined 95,231,000 record sales.

Play together with the host Nick cannon and prominent panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger And Robin Dicke. Two new characters are entering the competition and two will be unmasked in the brand new New York Night episode of The Masked Singer, which airs Wednesday, March 1 (8pm-9pm ET/PT). FOX is broadcast. 8:00 pm — “Previously on ‘The Masked Singer’!” In episode 2, Medusa outperformed the competition on ABBA Night for the second week in a row. Rock Lobster has been revealed as an America’s Got Talent judge and comedian Howie Mandeland Night Owl emerged as a former teen pop icon Debbie Gibson. But enough from last week – let’s see who comes out on top tonight!

8:05 p.m — Robin begins the themed night with a performance of “Living in New York City” before Nick introduces Medusa, the returning champion of the last two weeks. In her clue packet, she says: “I’m still recovering from the shock of beating a music industry legend last week. But now that I’ve won two titles in a row, I feel like I have a huge goal on my back. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, but the snakes and I have a secret weapon. My Dad’s Favorite Karaoke Song! I grew up with him so it’s the perfect choice to take me to the Quarterfinals.” Visual cues include a portrait of cold play‘s Chris Martin and a large terrier dog, leading Jenny to ask, “Does she know Jeff Goldman?” – who was McTerrier in season 7. We also see repeated references to colorful palm trees, Buckingham Palace and chess pieces.

8:10 p.m — Medusa sings “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra. She slowed it down quite a bit from the traditional version. It’s a really powerful, beautiful rendition! Medusa doesn’t want to go home tonight. Jenny says: “It’s unbeatable. We’re all so speechless right now. If you don’t have shelves of Grammys on your wall, we’re all going to be surprised.” Nicole calls it “ethereal”. Medusa becomes emotional and admits she is crying behind her mask. Next, Luann de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York brings to light a clue. It’s a small bridge, and Medusa says, “Sometimes you have to build a bridge to get across it. Hope it puts you in the right frame of mind.” Panelists say it could be Medusa Mister (Nicole), Florence Welch (Nicole), Shirley Manson (Nicole), Suzanne Boyle (Ken) or Kesha (Robin). Hmm… I think that is fergie! anyone else?

8:15 p.m — The polar bear is standing next to the stage! He’s got some loot. He’s pretty big too! In the Clue Pack, Polar Bear reveals, “I’m so excited to bring some New York flair to the stage of ‘The Masked Singer.’ Because this “City of Dreams” where I come from is the source of everything that made me who I am. My neighborhood has a bad reputation. It’s the kind of place most people wouldn’t dream of. It was on these streets that I developed my interest in electronics as a child. I used to take apart Mom’s toaster and my sister’s hair dryer just to see how they worked. All of this tinkering eventually sparked a mind-blowing idea that helped me turn the tables on the entire music industry. This bad boy made up a noise that nobody made. My legendary status helped publicize my broken neighborhood. Now I’m here to honor a New Yorker who changed the game, just like me.” Visual cues included lots of flowers, a scratch-off lottery ticket that said “Cold Hard Cash,” various electronics, a punching bag , big speakers, a message in a bottle and a DJ booth.

8:22 p.m — Polar bear sings “Rapture” by blonde. He’s a terrible singer struggling to get wrong falsetto notes. This bear is clearly only here for a good time. At one point he chanted, “Hands in the air! Put ’em up!” He sounds more comfortable as a hype man than as a singer. Ken says, “Great job! Having fun. That’s what it’s all about.” Next up is Long Island Medium Teresa Caputo gives a clue. She says, “I totally see you standing on a podium and giving a speech. I think it’s actually a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Acceptance Speech.” Wow! I would be shocked if this was a real singer. Maybe it’s a rapper putting on a vocal performance for fun. The panel advises DJ Jazzy Jeff (Robin), P Diddy (ken), Flava Flav (Jenny) and Grandmaster Lightning (Nicole).

8:30 p.m — The last contestant of the night is the California Roll. There are five pairs of legs in this large sushi roll! In their clue pack, California Roll reveals, “Wasabi my dudes? I’m the California roll. Now you might be wondering what the Cali Roll is doing here on New York night. good, why not? I’ve been to Broadway. And that wasn’t the only role I played. Oh no, I have many sides. Let me give you five reasons why I’m the perfect dish. Just like the city of New York, this potash roll never sleeps. I got used to it because I hung up all night. Gotta pay the rent! But finally California called, so I headed west on the 10 to see the Glee parades and the movie screens. When I got there, I ran into all the greats, from Dolly to Snoop. And I even got married! It was such a tiring drive that I barely have time for myself. But without each of these ingredients, I wouldn’t be the successful number one I am today. Pocket it dude!” Visual cues include skateboards, soy sauce, a cocktail, a bunch of sunglasses, a notebook that says “Group Project”, spicy mayonnaise, a tiger drawing and a diamond ring.

8:35 p.m — California Roll sings “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga. The lead has a great voice – and the other four sneak around him like backup dancers until the chorus all starts to harmonize. This is the largest group on The Masked Singer to date. It’s a cool performance, but I don’t think it was as good as Medusa’s. The judges are just intrigued because they’re new. It’s not entirely fair that Medusa has to win three episodes to advance to the Quarterfinals, but California Roll could potentially get there on that feat alone. I think we’ll see how the night unfolds. Next, Pizza Rat puts out a clue that says “5 billion.” California says “5 billion and counting, but who’s counting?” Panelists guess the cast of The Lion King on Broadway (Jenny), Pentatonix (Jenny), the cast of Pitch Perfect (Nicole) or the cast of High School Musical (Ken).

8:40 p.m — The studio audience has cast their vote and the first singer to unmask tonight is Eisbär. Before the shaggy beast rips his head off, the panelists offer their final guesses: Flava Flav (Jenny), LL Cool J (Robin), Grandmaster Flash (Nicole) and P. Diddy (Ken). It’s time for Polar Bear to reveal himself, and he is indeed legend and icon Grandmaster Flash. Nicole was right!

8:50 p.m — Now Medusa and California Roll will compete in Battle Royale. They each gave “Uptown Girl” their own spin Billy Joel. Medusa goes the traditional route, while California Roll turns it into a haunting ballad. Regardless of the winner, I’m pretty sure the bell will ring tonight. Ken calls it “the most competitive battle royale we’ve ever had.” Who will come out on top?

9:01 p.m — This week’s Battle Royale winner is California Roll! I disagree with this result – but Medusa can still be saved. Before we find out, the jury will submit their final guesses: Susan Boyle (Ken), Halsey (Jenny), Kesha (Robin) and Lorde (Nicole). When it’s time for Medusa to reveal herself, Nicole picks up the hammer and rings the bell! Ding dong, keep it up! Medusa lives to sing another day as California Roll advances to quarterfinals. Medusa is “very relieved” to move on – and she deserves it. Medusa will have to fight her way back into competition against the other saves later this season.
