VERA FILES FACT CHECK: Time Capsule ad of local celebrities, Vicki Belo FAKE

Fake ads are once again circulating on Facebook (FB) in which actresses and dermatologist Vicki Belo are promoting a “magic gel” that treats scars, acne, melasma and other skin conditions.

The Time Capsule product promoted in the three videos posted from November 10 through December 13 is not registered with the Food and Drug Administration.

Belo Medical Group rejected the gel in 2021, stating that their “Belo Time Capsule is a treatment, NOT a product.”

The fake video advertisement, which was released on November 23, followed a news format.

Showcasing the “new medicine” used by forever young actresses, the video began with a photo of actress Ina Raymundo inserted into a clip of a May 27, 2019 Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho segment.

The musical score used by 24 Oras was also played throughout the video as a narrator explained how Time Capsule has helped celebrities. Clips of Raymundo, Sunshine Cruz and Alice Dixson promoting other products were also spliced.

Another video, uploaded on November 10 and December 13, used spliced clips from Belo’s May 5, 2022 vlog and her 2019 photo published by Vogue Hong Kong.

The posts lead Internet users to websites asking for their personal information in order to purchase the product.

This isn’t the first time celebrities and doctors have been featured in fake ads. (Read VERA FILES FACT CHECK: Sammi Egg Essence Mask NOT FDA Registered).
