Top 5 celebrities who rocked the most slick NBA jerseys courtside

Over the years we have launched a wide range of unique NBA jerseys. From classic throwbacks like the Purple Utah Jazz jerseys featuring snow-capped mountains to the new annual City Edition jerseys, we’ve seen it all. Thankfully, the sleeve jerseys of the mid-2010s era have long been forgotten, and now it’s all about the throwbacks.

We’ve seen some iconic kits, and we’ve seen some big celebrities enter the pitchside mix with their favorite kits. On Wednesday, the league celebrates NBA Jersey Day, with fans sharing their favorite jerseys on social media. This year marks the third edition of NBA Jersey Day and the fun is just beginning with a series of games.

Last year, the NBA put together a compilation video for their YouTube channel of celebrities rocking their favorite jerseys through the years. Although the video features some high-profile names like Selena Gomez rocking a Spurs jersey on the sidelines, or Tracy Morgan being graced with her own custom-made jersey, there were also some memorable names they left out.

For the third jersey day of the NBA, we count five chic jerseys from prominent fans on the sidelines.

#5, Lil Jon (Atlanta Hawks)

Lil Jon can be seen near the end of the video above rocking an Atlanta Hawks jersey on the sidelines. In 2006, the Atlanta DJ & rapper donned his custom No. 04 jersey to attend the Hawks vs. Heat game. The jersey was nothing more than a 2004-07 Atlanta Hawks backup jersey – an incredibly unusual one.

#4, Rihanna (Miami Heat)

What can’t Rihanna do? In 2013, at the height of the Miami Heat’s Big Three era, the Grammy-winning singer attended a game courtside. Not only did Rihanna bring loads of attention, but she proudly wore a custom Heat jersey while happily waving around a LeBron James jersey. That’s not all, she also made sure to put on a pair of Heat sunglasses.

#3, Nipsey Hussle (LA Lakers)

This jersey wasn’t one that made it into the NBA’s Jersey Day video, but as the old saying goes…if you know, you know. In 2018, a brawl broke out between Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo during a game between LA Lakers and Houston Rockets. As the scuffle spilled over to the baseline, rapper Nipsey Hussle was seen pulling up his pants in case he needed to throw some haymakers should the fight spill over into his section.

Hussle’s fresh Lakers outfit, complete with a Shaquille O’Neal jersey and Lakers cap, caught the eye of many with hindsight.

#2, Kevin Hart (Philadelphia 76ers)

Sometimes less is more, and Kevin Hart proved it when he rocked the Philadelphia 76ers’ classic warm-up with buttons. The retro jersey was an incredibly clean and sleek homage to the vintage warm-up shoes the team used to wear. The classic vintage look is without question one of the most unique and one of the chicest jerseys in the NBA Jersey Day video.

#1, Snoop Dogg (LA Lakers)

Snoop DO-Double-G, one of the biggest names in hip-hop today and an artist whose rhymes transcended eras, takes first place at NBA Jersey Day.

Although there could be an entire top 5 of just Snoop Dogg outfits, it’s his number 8 jersey outfit that takes the cake. During Game 4 of the 2002 NBA Finals, Snoop donned a custom jersey complete with yellow sweatpants and the infamous Kobe ADIDAS 2s.

To this day, the outfit remains one of the most iconic in basketball culture, especially given that Nate Dogg stood courtside with Snoop.
