“They Ended Up On Shows Like The One I’m From,” Kelly Clarkson Shaded Celebrities That Were Very Rude to Her After Winning American Idol
Nowadays, Kelly Clarkson is a successful singer, songwriter, author and television personality. To date, she has released ten studio albums and sold more than 25 million copies and 45 million singles worldwide. She also proved that she’s a great vocal coach by starring in the fourteenth season of The Voice a few years ago. Nowadays, Clarkson is the host of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Despite her recent divorce from Brandon Blackstock, Clarkson still has an estimated net worth of $45 million. Though much of her current income comes from her talk show, the star wouldn’t have been able to amass all of this wealth without her successful music career. And it all started when she auditioned for the first season of American Idol.
Given her current success, it’s hard to believe some people didn’t believe in Kelly Clarkson when she was fresh American Idol. But the singer admitted that many celebrities belittled her when she was just starting to become famous. But now she is doing much better than them.
Kelly Clarkson was broke when she auditioned for American Idol
In 2001, after graduating high school, Kelly Clarkson moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Around this time, she landed a few extra roles on TV shows like Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Dharma & Greg, and also recorded five demo tracks to secure a record deal. But her efforts were unsuccessful and she was forced to return to her hometown of Burleson, Texas less than a year later.
When she got the opportunity to audition for a new singing competition series called American Idol: The Search for a Superstar, Clarkson worked odd jobs to pay the bills. She promoted Red Bull energy drinks, worked as a phone clerk, cocktail waitress, and even worked at restaurants like Papa John’s.
“I didn’t have anything special,” Clarkson revealed on an episode of The Rewind with Guy Raz. “I literally had to make this top to go to this audition. I had no clothes, nothing.” Still, she went to the audition and won a “golden ticket” to go straight to the Hollywood rounds.
Most recently, Clarkson revealed that at first she didn’t think American Idol would boost her career. After all, the show was brand new and untested, “nobody knew if anyone was going to watch it,” the singer told CNBC that she thought “American Idol” was going to be a flop. But even then, she thought, “I would at least make enough money that I could… just get everything back on track.”

The first season of American Idol aired on Fox in June 2002. Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman co-hosted, with Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell judging. More than 10,000 contestants from across the country auditioned, but only 121 were chosen to appear on the show.
Despite the large number of participants who joined the call, the first auditions did not look good. In fact, it was so bad that Paula Abdul tried to quit eight times on the first day! “On the first day, I actually thought I was going to be screwed. Paula [Abdul] resigned, every singer was upset, and I thought, “This is a joke.” “It just got worse,” Cowell revealed during Kelly Clarkson’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. “So I thought this was an absolute disaster.” Why did I come here?
But everything changed when Kelly Clarkson auditioned. Cowell told the singer: “And thank goodness I remember the day we met you. I remember not only your voice, but also your personality. I’ll be honest here, I honestly didn’t know how good at that point.” You were. I just liked you. And I was so thankful.
And when Clarkson finally won the show, Cowell knew American Idol was going to be a hit: “I remember the moment your name was called and I thought to myself, ‘Thanks to you, we might have another season.’ I can honestly thank you. They validated what we did because if we didn’t find a star, there was no point in doing these shows.”

During her appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Kelly Clarkson revealed that many celebrities were rude to her when she just won American Idol. When Clarkson was asked to name one of these celebs, he settled on the fifth.
Though she didn’t reveal their names, she said that “a lot of them ended up on shows like the one I’m coming from.” She then threw shade at them, commenting, “It’s weird what money does.”
