These Korean celebrities have launched their own labels

It's no secret that more and more Korean celebrities are pursuing their passion for entrepreneurial pursuits by starting their own management labels. From EXO singer Baekhyun to actor Son Suk-goo, here is a list of Korean stars who are exploring new artistic frontiers with their entertainment agencies.

The list is led by BLACKPINK's rapper Lisa. Lisa's solo activities are handled by her label LLOUD, founded in 2024. Her acting debut in the third season of the hit HBO series “The White Lotus” will be one of the first projects under the agency’s banner. The show is reportedly set to release in 2025. Meanwhile, the Korean celebrity will be seen continuing her group commitments with BLACKPINK's label SM Entertainment.

Not to be forgotten: One of the few Korean celebrities who has been working under his own label for a long time is Jackson Wang, who founded Team Wang in 2017. His most recent project includes the GOT7 member's first-ever solo headlining world tour MAGIC MAN. The tour was a sold-out phenomenon and featured magnificent stage design, conveyor belts, giant guitars and high staircases, as well as Jackson Wang's impressive performances.

Lisa

Founded on February 8, 2024, BLACKPINK's Lisa introduced her management agency LLOUD as a platform that will showcase her vision in music and entertainment.

One of the most popular labels launched by a Korean celebrity: “LLOUD’s passion as an artist management company is to create experiences that transcend genres and connect generations.” Our core lies in relentless innovation and a commitment to authenticity. We don't just push boundaries; “We are redefining it and creating chart-topping and genre-bending music,” says the label’s official website.

LLOUD will now manage Lisa's solo activities, while her group activities with BLACKPINK will continue to be managed by YG Entertainment.

Son Suk-goo

Actor Son Suk-goo is currently building on the success of the hit Netflix K-drama thriller A Killer Paradox by launching his own entertainment agency and production company Stature Inc. in February 2024.

K-media allkpop quotes an industry insider talking about the actor's new agency: “Son Suk Goo is one of the actors who not only has a keen interest in acting but also in content,” suggesting that Son too thinks about production aspects.

Officially registered on January 2, 2024, the Korean celebrity's new label is based in Seoul and will lay the foundation for his upcoming ventures in the industry. The former finance director of Saetbyuldang Entertainment, Son's previous agency, currently serves as CEO of Stature Inc.

Jennie

Another BLACKPINK member who is starting her own management agency alongside Lisa is the group's main rapper, Jennie.

The Korean celebrity founded her label OA in November 2023. According to the official website, OA stands for ODD ATELIER and is a “space that aims to create new things that grab attention in a different way than usual or expected.”

Jennie shared the news on her Instagram Story on December 24, 2023, writing, “Hello, this is Jennie. This year has been full of successes and I am so grateful for all the love I have received. I'm also thinking about what's to come as I begin my solo journey in 2024 with a company I founded called OA. Please show me lots of love for my new beginning with OA and of course BLACKPINK. Thank you very much.”

Baekhyun

South Korean singer Baekyun rose to CEO after launching his management label INB100 on June 23, 2023.

Following a legal dispute with SM Entertainment over the extension of K-pop group EXO's exclusive contract in 2023, group member Baekhyun decided that his solo activities will be managed by INB100, while group activities with EXO will continue by SM.

Along with Baekhyun, INB100 will lead his bandmates Chen and Xiumin. Korean celebrities will also get into music production with the new label. Additionally, INB100 will represent EXO-CBX, a subunit of EXO consisting of the three members.

Following the launch of INB100, SM Entertainment announced, “Our exclusive contract for the three EXO members still stands. We cannot disclose the specific terms of the agreement, but we have enabled the three members to carry out their individual activities in accordance with the agreement reached with the company.”

DO

After 13 years with the former agency SM Entertainment, EXO member DO, aka Do Kyung-soo, parted ways with the agency and decided to create something of his own. In November 2023, the Korean star founded the company Soosoo – a new management label that will represent him in his future solo activities – together with his long-time manager Nam Kyung-soo.

According to multiple K-Media reports, the K-pop idol's upcoming solo album, tentatively scheduled for release in May 2024, will serve as his inaugural project under his new agency's banner.

Responding to the reports, a Soosoo representative confirmed the preparations and told Soompi: “It is true that he is currently preparing for a new album, with the aim of releasing it in the first half of the year. However, no concrete details have been determined at the moment.”

Jay Park

On March 3, 2022, Korean rapper Jay Park announced the launch of his new company called MORE VISION. He was previously CEO of the AOMG and H1GHR Music labels, which Park founded in 2013 and 2017, respectively. He resigned from his position in December 2021.

The Korean celebrity, who first debuted as a member of 2PM in 2008, spoke about his new label in an official YouTube video, saying that with MORE VISION he wants to “create something that the world will love even more than before.”

Artists supported by MORE VISION include Korean singer-songwriter Chung Ha, dance groups HolyBang and MVP, and dancer Honey J. On April 14, 2023, it was announced that famous American rapper Jessi, currently residing in South Korea, was also has signed an exclusive contract with the agency.

Kang Daniel

South Korean singer-songwriter Kang Daniel is CEO of Konnect Entertainment and KD Corporation Ltd., which he founded in 2019.

All of the Korean celebrity's activities in the entertainment industry are managed by Konnect Entertainment, while other business-related projects are managed by KD Corporation Ltd. to get managed.

His companies' business ventures include a cafe on the first floor of Konnect Entertainment called Cafe de Konnect; “Kang Daniel” mobile application, which serves as its official fan cafe; a collaboration with production company Snowballs to release the puzzle game app Starway Kang Daniel and the release of rhythm game Superstar Kang Daniel through a collaboration with South Korean game development company Dalcomsoft.

Konnect Entertainment's artist roster includes well-known names such as singer-songwriter and producer Chancellor, former GFriend member Yuju and dance group We Dem Boyz (WDBZ).

Psi

“Gangnam Style” star Psy is one of the few Korean celebrities who established his own management label early in the industry. The singer founded P Nation – a record label, entertainment agency and concert production company – in 2018.

On May 17, 2022, P Nation formed their first K-pop boy group, TNX, with six members – Kyungjun, Taehun, Hyunsoo, Junhyeok, Hwi and Sungjun. The band was formed through P Nation's survival audition program Loud and released their first extended play (EP) Way Up in 2022.

As of 2024, P Nation has over ten artists under contract, including Hwasa, Crush, Heize, Swings, The New Six and An Shin-ae.

Jackson Wang

As a member of the South Korean boy band GOT7, Jackson Wang founded his international record label Team Wang in 2017.

Wang, who serves as CEO of Team Wang, initially founded the label with just two members – him and a manager. However, in a 2021 WIRED Autocomplete interview, the former fencing athlete revealed how Team Wang has continued to reach greater heights and become a growing company with over 70 employees.

The label's first release was Wang's hit single “Papillon”, which was released on August 26, 2017 and served as Wang's first solo single. In 2020, Wang decided to expand his label and ventured into the fashion industry by launching the clothing line Team Wang Design, where the rapper serves as creative director and designer. The agency's latest project was Wang's single “Slow” in collaboration with American singer Ciara, released on April 17, 2023.

Artists supported by Team Wang include Chinese hip-hop group Panthepack and soloists Ice, Jackson Wang, J.Sheon, Karencici, Xenzu and Laurie.
