AAt this point, pretty much every comic in the world disapproved of what Will Smith spoke about a joke at the Oscars against Chris Rock. The overwhelming majority agree that this was not only a direct attack on Chris, but also on free speech and comedy.
There still hasn’t been a comedian who has sided with Will Smith in this case, and we’re even beginning to understand the ramifications of his actions. Last week comedian Dave Chappelle was also attacked on stage for telling jokes in front of an audience. Unfortunately, this could likely become a trend that will only increase over time.
Smith’s actions gave others the green light to take action against anyone who told a joke about them in complete disregard of the law. Free speech is a very important concept in the United States of America. Taking violent action against it must be one of the most punishable offenses in this country.
Another comedian came out to talk about the slap during a public event at Georgia State University. Legendary comedian Steve Harvey has been a part of the stand-up comedy world for decades and has probably had his fair share of heckling over the years. However, he was very surprised at how Will Smith acted on instinct.
Steve Harvey says Will Smith’s slap was a ‘punk move’ and he lost respect for the actor. https://t.co/96OHdDfWX2

Harvey calls Will’s actions a “punk move”.
During this public event, Steve Harvey spoke about Will Smith and how he personally would have reacted beat. Though he considers himself a Christian, Steve is not the type to offer him the other cheek. Here’s what he said: “It was a punk move. I’m a Christian, but I’m really undeveloped. I don’t have high level Christianity.
“On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m like a 2. That’s the level of Christianity I can work on. If you hit TD Jakes, he turns the other cheek. you hit me? When you sit back in your seat, Jada [Will’s wife] would have to get out of the way. That’s the kind of Christian I am. I lost a lot of respect for Will after that.”
It’s okay for Steve Harvey to protect his family and call Will Smith a punk while doing the same to protect his family. Steve, you owe Will an apology, you would have overslept Chris if he was talking about your wife’s picture. twitter.com/xVDVum4aCx
