South Shields restaurant loved by celebrities opens stunning outdoor terrace with sea views
A celebrity-loved seafood restaurant in South Shields has opened a glamorous new outdoor patio just in time for summer.
Colman’s Seafood Temple on the Sea Road has created an al fresco seating area surrounding the restaurant which offers stunning sea views. Stained glass windows and stylish pyramid patio heaters ensure guests can enjoy their meal in a sheltered environment even when the sun isn’t there.
The new space opened for the first time on the bank holiday weekend in May and can accommodate up to 30 people. Drinks and oysters will initially be on offer on the outdoor menu, with a menu of small dishes and snacks planned for the coming weeks.

Richard Ord, director of Colmans, is delighted with the seating area and said he is welcoming walk-in customers ahead of bookings starting later this summer.
“We’ve had some great summers over the past few years, so we wanted to create a place for people to relax and enjoy our premium drinks and local oysters overlooking our incredible beach,” he said.
“The Temple Terrace offers an additional 30 outdoor seats. There will only be walk-in seating for the first few weeks but due to the demand already there we are looking to book this!”
“For the first weekend we will only be serving drinks and oysters outdoors and will look to introduce seafood small plates and snacks in the coming weeks.”
Colmans Seafood Temple has been a popular choice for North East celebrities since it opened six years ago. Stars who have visited the restaurant include former Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll and comedy couple Chris and Rosie Ramsey.
