SAHIWAL: The district administration has renamed six public sector entities in the city.
The process was completed following the refurbishment of the facilities under the Asian Development Bank’s program called Punjab Intermediate Cities Investment Improvement Program (PICIIP).
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Awais Malik informed Dawn that he had issued a public notice under Rule 9(3) and 4 of the Punjab Local Council (Roads and Street) Rules 1981.
He said the names were changed to honor the figures who belonged to or remained associated with Sahiwal and made outstanding contributions in the fields of literature, art, civil service, public administration and sport.
These places are named Munir Niazi Park, Tariq Aziz Park, Khursheed Rizvi E-Library, Qamar Zaman Hockey Ground, Muzaffar Qadir Badminton Hall and Barrister Syed Aziz Qutab Chowk.
