When it comes to researching your family history, there’s nothing like finding out that you’re related to a member of the royal family. While browsing pedigrees, some Londoners have discovered that their blood is bluer than they ever imagined.
When it comes to our friends across the pond, it seems no different — many people now living in the United States have ties that link them to Her Majesty the Queen herself. It turns out celebrities are no different when it comes to royal connections, and a number of surprising stars of music, stage and film are reportedly linked to royalty.
Here is a comprehensive list of the most surprising celebrities believed to be related to the British royal family.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, 46, is arguably one of the most successful Hollywood actresses of our generation, known for roles in films such as Maleficent, Tomb Raider and The Tourist. In terms of family history, Angelina’s mother, Marie Bertrand, is reportedly a descendant of French royalty.
Their ancestors can be traced back to Philip II, son of Louis VII, a 12th-century French king. This links Angelina to Marie of France, a well-known French princess and Phillip’s half-sister. If that claim to fame wasn’t enough, Angelina is also the 26th cousin of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II.

Multi-award-winning pop star Beyoncé, 40, is often referred to as Queen B — well, it turns out that moniker may be more accurate than it seems. The Single Ladies singer is reportedly Queen Elizabeth II’s 25th cousin once removed, according to CBS. The royal couple are believed to have a common ancestor in Henry II.
The irony of this family relationship is that the Queen was temporarily replaced by Beyoncé in Madame Tussauds’ London exhibition in 2019. Beyoncé took the center stage of her cousin, the Queen, alongside Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William.

Now for another Queen of Pop – international sensation Madonna, 63, also has royal roots. The pop artist descends from French-Canadian Madeleine Ernard and her cabinetmaker Zacharie Cloutier, making her a ninth cousin of the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles.
Another fun fact about Camilla’s family tree is that she is also distantly related to her husband through Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle. Camilla descends from the Duke’s youngest daughter, Catherine, while Charles descends from the Duke’s eldest, Margaret.
Johnny Depp
Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny also has royal connections

According to Vogue, Johnny Depp, 58, is Queen Elizabeth II’s 20th cousin. Both Her Majesty and the Pirates of the Caribbean actor are descendants of Edward III.
Other than that, the two have very little in common – the Pirates of the Caribbean actor was born in Kentucky, USA and grew up in Florida. He has lived in Hollywood for most of his life.
Megan Markle

So this is something of a curveball – although Meghan Markle, 40, is now part of the royal clan after marrying Prince Harry in 2018, she has an even deeper royal heritage. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan is a direct descendant of England’s King Edward III, meaning she and Prince Harry are cousins 17.
The two families share a common ancestor, Ralph Bowes, a High Sheriff of County Durham in England in the 15th century. According to a report by The Sun, Meghan is also related to Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII, and Isabel Hildyard, her 12th great-grandmother, was also Seymour’s second cousin.
