Law Roach is already beginning his new chapter.
The famed stylist – whose current and former clients include Zendaya, Kerry Washington, Hailee Steinfeld, Priyanka Chopra, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion and more – abruptly announced on Tuesday that he was retiring, sending the fashion world into a meltdown.
“The politics, lies and false narratives finally got me!” he wrote in his Instagram post sharing his decision.
And Roach is already moving on, making his runway debut as a model in the Boss show on Wednesday night in Miami alongside Pamela Anderson, DJ Khaled, Amber Valletta and Naomi Campbell (another former client).
“I’m excited and nervous. And deeply grateful,” the self-proclaimed “image architect” told Vogue ahead of the show.
“I’m grateful that the Boss team sees me as more than just dressing all these amazing celebrities.”

He also clarified his future career plans, telling the outlet, “I’m not saying I’m retiring from fashion. i love fashion I love business and I love being creative. What I’m stepping away from is the celebrity styling part of it: being of service and serving other people.”
While tons of celebrities, fellow stylists and fans flooded the comments section of Roach’s announcement post, begging him to reconsider — he says the love was “overwhelming” — the fashion pro has no plans to change his mind.
“My clients are my priority, more than my own health and happiness. And in my mind, you know, it was me [announcing my retirement] just to take some of the pressure off of me, right?” he said.
“I drove in the car and made a decision. I said, ‘You know what, I’ve done everything I wanted to do in this career. I’ve gotten all the awards, the awards, I’ve changed people’s lives… And I just feel like I’ve had enough, you know?”
Roach added that his post “wasn’t a PR stunt,” as some speculated: “It was really me giving myself the grace to say, ‘It’s okay. You can do something else.”
Roach has worked most closely with Zendaya – who has been his client for 12 years – and has made it clear that he will not be “breaking up” with her in this transition.WireImage
It’s unclear exactly what direction Roach will take, but he clarified on Twitter that he won’t be abandoning his epic partnership with Zendaya, which he’s styled for 12 years.
“So y’all really think I’m breaking up with Z…” Roach tweeted Wednesday. “We are forever!”
In a second tweet, he added, “She’s my little sister and it’s real love, not fake industrial love.”

The announcement comes after fans speculated that his retirement was due to an awkward situation at Louis Vuitton’s runway show earlier this month; In a video that has been doing the rounds on social media, Zendaya can be seen in the last seat on the front row with Roach having to sit behind her.
In addition to working with Zendaya and attempting to model, Roach also judges the HBO ballroom competition show Legendary and serves as West Coast Editor for British Vogue.
“When I made that decision yesterday, I took a step back and looked at my life and realized that I have nothing but this career. I don’t want that to remain the legacy… To answer your question, what I’m up to is other things,” he told Vogue.
“I want this to be my legacy, a legacy that I’ve really helped transform people’s lives — and not just celebrities’ lives by putting them in the best dress, you know?”
