Rapper to split from wife Kirsten Corley

Chances are the rapper and his wife Kirsten Corley will divorce after five years of marriage.

The former couple announced their split in a joint statement posted to Chance's Instagram Stories on Wednesday.

“After a period of separation, we have both made the decision to separate,” the statement said. “We made this decision amicably and in gratitude for the time we spent together.”

The couple have two daughters together, eight-year-old Kensli and four-year-old Marli Grace, whom they want to “raise together.”

“We politely ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition,” the statement concluded.

Chance and Corley married in March 2019. The two reportedly exchanged vows during a ceremony in Newport Beach, California. According to the Chicago Tribune, a marriage certificate shows that the couple got married in a civil ceremony in Chicago on December 27, 2018.

Days before their wedding, Chance confirmed that he and Corley had tied the knot in an X-thread about how he met his future bride. He said the two met at his mother's office party in 2003, when he was nine years old.

“We were told to make room for an exclusive performance by DESTINY's CHILD!!!” Chance recalled a lip-sync performance with Corley. “Now I look into the eyes of the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my almost ten years of life on earth.”

Although he was pressured by his father to show off his dance films at the time, Chance refused, arguing, “Because I knew I was going to marry that girl.” And I don’t want to jump the gun.”

“So I shook my head in fear, moved to the back of the crowd and didn’t even introduce myself,” he continued. “It happened 16 years later. This (weekend) is the time and place of my wedding. I will dance with my wife because that is my destiny.”
