Ranking the best and worst dressed celebrities at the 68th Filmfare Award – Culture

Filmfare is one of the Indian entertainment industry’s most prestigious awards shows and it’s always exciting for viewers to see multiple celebrities come together under one roof. But for us, the most exciting thing is of course seeing what everyone is wearing.

The 68th Filmfare Awards took place in Mumbai on Thursday and while some artists turned heads with their fashion choices, others let us down with their fashion statements. We’ve ranked the celebs by best and worst dressed on the red carpet.

Ali Bhatt

The actress was dressed to kill and kill what she did – she won Best Actress for her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Bhatt looked gorgeous in her tailored black grown by Tony Ward. The dress was long with an iridescent bodice and fitted bodice. She had her hair slicked back in a messy bun and kept her accessories and makeup to a minimum to give it the perfect balance.

Janvi Kapoor

The Mili actor opted for a gorgeous purple flared dress by Delhi-based designer duo Gauri & Nainika. She added a silver choker and left her hair down to complete her look. Kapoor chose a glossy makeup look that complemented the vibrant purple dress that stole the show from us.

Vicky Kauschal

We love it when men try different styles of suiting rather than sticking to plain black on the red carpet, and this one was a hit. Kaushal wore pants and a coat of the same shade of black with Anamika Khanna’s usual style of white embroidery on the coat. He paired them with a shirt in a darker shade of black and shades of black. All black with a dash of drama? Love it!

Anil Kapor

While we loved Kauhal’s black on black, we also wanted a break from black suiting on the red carpet and we got that with Anil Kapoor’s all-white look. The evergreen star looked handsome in a cream suit by Raghavendra Rathore paired with a striped tie.

Alaja F

The Freddy actor looked glamorous in a gray combo that featured a one-shoulder top and a skirt with a very high side slit. She completed her look with ear cuffs, slightly smoky eyes and straight hair.

Prajakta Kolhi

The YouTuber-turned-actor looked stunning in a shimmering white Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna dress with iridescent heels. She opted for minimalist nude makeup and straight hair. We loved their overall look.

Jim Sarbh

The posh actor has an inherited quirky style and opted for a Sherlock look for Filmfare. He opted for a long black Gucci coat with a black bow tie, which kind of, really, really worked for him.

Rajkummar Rao

The Best Actor winner’s attire matched his Filmfare trophy as he wore an all black suit with a black bow tie. He went for an effortless look, although we wish he’d gone for something more unique. Don’t get us wrong, he looked great in his simple, classic black outfit, but we just have a feeling he could have had more fun with his look.

Bhumi Pednekar

Bhumi Pednekar got a well-deserved win for Best Actress (Critics), but her fashion choice last night was a bit questionable. She wore a silver and white corset dress by Rami Kadi Maison de Couture, which had an odd parting between the bodice and the skirt. There’s something about the way the corset hugs her body that looks – maybe the odd ribbon-like indentation around her waist? The skirt didn’t do her any favors either and looked a bit like a bed sheet tied around her waist.

Her minimal makeup and loose curls managed to keep the look from looking completely drab.

Kajol Devgan

The actress decided her Filmfare look should be an ode to the heroes of Indian entertainment industry by donning a lustrous black Manish Malhotra suit. She opted for lots of rings, her husband’s watch, chunky black shoes and loose hair, which could have worked really well, emphasis could. Instead, the look fell flat for us and felt a bit uninspired.
