Politicians, celebrities woo Cebuano voters

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Various concerts and other entertainment activities are planned in Cebu ahead of this weekend as the national candidates attempt to woo Cebuano voters.

All of these activities are free.

Cebu, the country’s top-voting province with at least 3.2 million registered voters, has been a popular destination for national candidates running in the May 9, 2022 general election.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, the tandem of Senators Panfilo Lacson and Vicente Sotto III visited the city of Argao in southern Cebu for a town hall meeting and later had lunch with the Mayors of the Second District in Dalaguete.

Today, Thursday, April 7, they are scheduled to visit the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and later continue to Bogo City for another town hall meeting.

On Friday, April 8th, veteran actor Cesar Montano and his son Diego will attend the BBM – Sara Celebrity All Star which will be held at the Cebu City Coliseum.

They will be joined by several other celebrities, including former PBA star and basketball coach Vince Hizon and Cebu City Vice Mayor Donaldo Dondon Hontiveros, who is also a former PBA player.

The All-Star Games will be hosted by Miss Philippines Earth-Water 2020 and sportscaster Gianna Llanes.

On Saturday, Aika Robredo and the Pangilinan siblings will be here to honor the “AIKASadyasaSugbu”, a family run with the Kakampinks in Cebu.

Ricky Ballesteros, who is organizing the event in coordination with Cebu for Leni Youth, said participants in the family walk will gather at 6 p.m. on Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City, right in front of Cebu Normal University.

They then went to Fuente Osmeña Rontunda, back to Osmeña Boulevard, and then to SWU PHINMA Senior High Campus.

Later in the day, the Toledo Sports Center parking lot hosts a free concert featuring bands like Missing Filemon and Aggressive Audio and Cebuano singer Jacky Chang, who is behind the Bisaya songs “Pero Atik Ra” and “Sinsilyo.”

Also attending the gathering, dubbed “Daghang Salamat, Tersero,” will be Presidential candidate Isko Moreno Domago and Cebu 3rd District MP and Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia.

On Sunday, it’s “Papa P” Piolo Pascual and singer-songwriter Donnalyn Bartolome’s turn to entertain Cebuanos during the Ang Probinsyano Partylist’s big rally, which will be held on the campus of Southwestern University.

They will be joined by the Maka girls and other local talent at the gathering, which will also be attended by Rep. Alfred Delos Santos.

It’s going to be a busy week for Cebu, so better plan your trips in advance to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams that can happen near the venues.
