The Pakistani government has failed to bring relief to the masses. We hear people committing suicide as a result of the arson fires imposed on them this month, amid lockdowns in many cities and massive protests over electricity prices. The average unit price has reached almost 60 rupees and will reach up to 90 rupees if the reports are to be believed. People can no longer afford to eat or pay their bills and life is becoming increasingly difficult for everyone.
Electricity prices have skyrocketed due to the previous government’s IPP projects and now, with the IMF deal and economic mismanagement, even the most privileged are crying and can’t easily afford the tariffs. Nadia Kahn asked her celebrity friends and even the A-lister celebrities can’t afford the bills anymore.

Sadia Imam shared that her electric bill was $67,000 and she has now switched her house to solar power as the prices are crazy. She still got a $19,000 bill after converting her home to solar power.

Nida Yasir revealed that she was away from home for half a month as the whole family went on holiday and that she still got a 1 lakh rupee note. Now she is trying to control energy consumption as much as possible and even switching to solar energy is difficult as it is very expensive.

Fiza Ali also got a bill worth 67,000 rupees even though she was traveling and not even using much air conditioning.

Nadia Khan herself received a bill for 75,000 despite not even being home this month as she was in Thailand on work and later visiting her father in Islamabad.

Here’s how even celebrities are shocked by the hellish electricity bills and taxes the government charges them:
