The Met Gala is one of the biggest events in fashion’s annual calendar and this year looks set to be no exception.
As every year, the Costume Institute has hired a number of celebrities to co-chair the event, and this year Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively will be taking the reins.
Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda will serve as official co-chairs and hosts.
Organized by Vogue and held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the annual event marks the start of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition.
This year’s theme is Gilded Glamor as well as White Tie, which aims to be a nod to old-style 19th-century industrialization and emphasize themes of ownership and ownership.
The gala first began in 1948 and was attended exclusively by the upper echelons of New York society, from fashion designers to the city’s elite and wealthy.

Which celebs could be attending this year’s Met Gala?

As every year, the exact guest list for the event is unknown, however we can make a number of predictions as to who will be attending.
Traditionally, each year a selection of celebrities and designers is chosen to co-headline the event with Anna Wintour.

In 2021, Anna chose actor Timothée, musician Billie Eilish, poet Amanda Gorman and tennis star Naomi Osaka as hosts, with honorary chairs Tom Ford and Adam Mosseri.
Anna has the final say on any invitation to the event and stars expected include Dakota Johnson, Eileen Gu, Megan Thee Stallion and newlyweds Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham.
One celebrity rumored to be definitely attending this year’s event is Taylor Swift, but she hasn’t been seen walking up the stairs since 2016, so it’s uncertain if she’ll be in attendance this year.

Other names expected this year include Rihanna, the KarJenners, newly engaged Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, and Megan Thee Stallion to start.
Katy Perry is believed to be taking a night off from her Las Vegas residency to attend this year, and Page Six teases that she’ll be “playing a whole different card”.

Adele, Kim Kardashian and friend Peter Davidson, Billie Eilish and Brother Finneas, actor Timothy Chalamet, Kristen Stewart and Gemma Chan and musicians Harry Styles, Taylor Swiftt, Hailee Steinfeld u Camila hair All were reportedly invited to this year’s event.
Directors Sofia Coppola, Chloé Zhao and Martin Scorsese are also expected to be in attendance as they are part of the inside show, which is non-televised and guest-only.
How many people attend the Met Gala?
The Met Gala usually hosts around 600 attendees. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, a much smaller number attended in 2021.
What is the theme of the 2022 Met Gala?
This year’s theme is Gilded Glamor, and speaking to Vogue, Andrew Bolton, chief curator of the Museum of Modern Art’s Costume Institute, said the fashion stories featured in the 13-room exhibition “really reflect the evolution of American style, but you also examine the work of individual tailors, tailors and designers.’
