Matthew Perry shot Keanu Reeves by talking about his boyfriend in the memoir he published in 2022 river phoenix, a fact Perry now regrets and says he will remove anything negative about John Wick from his book.
Perry’s Memoirs”Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing‘ went into the details of his long battle with addiction and everything surrounding it. He also spoke about Keanu Reeves, River Phoenix and Heath Ledger.

During the LA Times Festival of Books, Perry said, “I said something stupid. It was a mean thing, I drew his name because I live on the same street. I have apologized to him publicly. The book will not have his name on it.”

Speaking about Keanu, Perry said he’s an actor who “still walks among us”, although “the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger are dying.”
When asked about the meaning behind the jab, he mentioned that he had nothing against Keanu and that he was actually a huge fan. Perry had already apologized to Keanu when he published the book.
“I’m actually a big fan of Keanu, I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”
A source speaking to Us Weekly mentioned that “Keanu thought the comments were coming from left field, it kind of backfired on Matthew anyway so he had to apologize.”
Perry has been open about his drug and alcohol abuse and has admitted he can’t watch Friends reruns or episodes: “I can’t watch the show because I was brutally skinny and I’ve been so crushed by the disease.”
Perry described what he consumed based on how he looked on the show
“I could tell by my looks season after season and I don’t think anyone else can, but I certainly could,” said the ‘Serving Sara’ star. “That’s why I don’t want to watch it, because that’s how I see it — I realize that when I look at it.”
