Lagos socialite attempts suicide, celebrities react

A Lagos socialite, Farida Sobowale, was barred from committing suicide on Thursday.

Ms. Sobowale, the founder of House of Phreeda, a skin care company, grabbed her Lexus SUV on the Third Mainland Bridge in viral video Lagos and tried to jump into the lagoon.

The beauty entrepreneur was immediately stopped by some passers-by, who detained her and ensured that the attempt was unsuccessful.

Ms Shobowale, who was wearing a black outfit, was seen crying and trying to try again. One of those who held her said they would take her to the police station.

Her suicide attempt came amid rumors that her marriage, which began with a luxury wedding in Lagos a few months ago, had broken up.

The wedding was attended by major figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, including Foluke Daramola, Fatiha BalogunBobrisky, Iyabo Ojo and others.

Following the news of her attempted suicide, a number of celebrities took to social media to comfort her and show her their support.

Iyabo Ojo said she was on the phone with the celebrity until she distracted her attention.

“Hmmmmm honey, if I had known you had that in mind I wouldn’t have called you,” she said.

‘Of course you knew what you were going to do, but you diverted my attention elsewhere; A story in case we see (because you’re not going anywhere) thank god for the people who were there on time to save the situation, god bless them my dear this will definitely pass, the sun will shine again , your tomorrow will be better than today but now just breathe i love you so much please stay strong…. I pray for you.”

Also, Nkechi Blessing prayed for strength for Ms. Sobowale to pull through.

“Not everyone is strong enough to withstand the pressure of trolling and bullying on Instagram,” he said actress wrote.

“Dear Ma @houseofphreedahbodycare, I pray God give you the strength to get through, it’s a phase and it will pass. I urge her close friends and family to be with her at all times and monitor her closely. Trust me, this will only make you stronger,” the actress wrote.

Nkechi said that if you keep your heart open, “that one man who will stand by you until the end of time will surely find you.”

The Southern Penal Code and Northern Nigeria Penal Code both consider those who attempt to end their lives as offenders in the misdemeanor category.

Section 327 of the Criminal Code states: “Anyone who attempts to take their own life commits a misdemeanor and shall be punished with imprisonment for one year.” ”

Section 231 of the Criminal Code states: “Anyone who attempts to commit suicide and undertakes an act constituting an act further to that offense shall be punishable by imprisonment for not more than one year or a fine or both.”

However, experts say that suicide attempts should be completely ruled out REMOVED From Nigerian law, it is classified as a crime and treated as a psychosocial problem that needs a humane solution.
