Korean celebrities, idols cast their votes on Election Day

Voting for the general election began at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, with celebrities casting their votes and proudly posting about it on social media.

However, many are careful not to write or wear anything that might indicate a particular political leaning.

This year we are seeing particularly moderate contributions. Some people choose to only post black and white photos, and others, like Minji from Newjeans, use fictional characters or animals to indicate that they have voted instead of using a photo of themselves.

Actor Lee Ji-hoon posted a story on Instagram about a black-and-white selfie outside a polling station with the caption: “Fantastically completed voting. Let's all vote for a better Korea to live in.” It's not too late. [SCREEN CAPTURE]

Newjeans' Minji uploaded a story to the girl group's official Instagram account to show that she cast her vote on Wednesday. Instead of a picture of herself, she opted for a self-drawn bear holding a sign that said “Vote Complete.” Since the K-pop star turned 19 this year, he voted for the first time.
