Good evening Bucknuts members and visitors! There’s a lot going on in Ohio State football recruiting, so let’s get started! I will of course have many more throughout the night and tomorrow.
1) Where else would we start aside from the big recruit night at Ohio Stadium and the Buckeyes’ 21-10 win Notre-Dame. I know a lot of Ohio State fans thought the Buckeyes would win with more. Personally, the margin didn’t surprise me. In our Thursday podcast, I said I thought the 17 point spread was too big and thought the Buckeyes would win, but it would be a little closer than 17. What surprised me was that overall the game was a relatively low point game points was.
But I actually thought it was good. It would have been better if the Buckeyes had clicked all cylinders on offense and won, say, 42-10. But had the Buckeyes won by a 48-38 margin, people would say nothing has changed and Ohio State’s defense isn’t good enough to win a national championship. But after last night There can be little doubt that Ohio State’s defenses have been greatly improved. And does anyone think Ohio State’s offense won’t be good and won’t put a lot of points on the board this season? Probably not many.
The Buckeyes will continue to recruit and land high-ranked offensive players. The question was more about defensive recruiting, and it was understandable that some great defensive recruits wanted to see what type of defense the Buckeyes have and how good they will be. One game is not enough to say 100% how to proceed. But Saturday night was exactly what big defensive recruits wanted to see, and many of them told me how impressed they were and how they loved the aggressive, attacking Jim Knowles Ohio State Defense. Undoubtedly, the Buckeyes’ performance on Saturday night was a very positive thing for Buckeye defensive recruits!
And that brings me to point #2, which impressed even more recruits….
