I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! was forced to apologize after liking an “unacceptable” social media post about one of the 2023 series contestants.

The show is facing another setback after its official social media account appeared to support an offensive comment about YouTube star and TV presenter Nella Rose, 26, who is a housemate on the ITV reality series.

Producers said it was an “accident” and the Instagram post has since been deleted.

In a statement released on Friday (December 1), the show said: “Yesterday we accidentally liked a comment on Instagram while scrolling down through viewer comments.

“We want to advocate for all of our fellow residents and would always ask our audience to be kind when commenting on social media.”

Opinions differed about the response, with some believing the apology was genuine. Meanwhile, others questioned how such a post could have been liked by the person running the show's social media account.

Meanwhile, digital card company Moonpig has come under fire for creating a birthday card that appears to mock social media star Nella.

Nella has been at the center of several heated moments in the jungle, most notably involving First Dates star Fried Sirieix. Days into the 2023 series, Nella was offended by a comment from Fred in which he said he was old enough to be her father.

The next day, Nella, who lost her father in 2019, explained in an on-camera confessional that she felt disturbed by Fred's comments because she believed they were an example of him disrespecting her.

In the latest episode, Nella compared Fred's way of running the camp kitchen to “a dictatorship.”

The social media star also made headlines after he clashed with controversial politician Nigel Farage over claims he was a supporter of anti-immigrant policies.

I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is on the verge of losing its crown as the most-watched show on television as its launch episode loses two million viewers in 2023.

The reality series is an annual ratings winner for ITV, attracting an average of nine to 11 million viewers each series.

However, the 2023 premiere, which saw a new generation of stars enter the Australian jungle, peaked at 7.8 million viewers but averaged just seven million.

I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm and Saturdays at 9.30pm on ITV.
