For the first time since 2011, the Phoenix Open Annexus Pro-Am at TPC Scottsdale, traditionally held on Wednesdays each year, was canceled on February 6 at 1 p.m
The cancellation came after persistent rain initially interrupted the game at 11:53 a.m
This didn't stop celebrities from coming to the Phoenix metropolitan area. About 26 groups participating in the Pro-Am had already started play at 8:30 a.m., with the last group starting at 10:30 a.m. All amateurs were still on the course when play was interrupted and some professionals had already finished their rounds.
From Glen Powell and Michael Phelps to Nick Saban and Emmitt Smith, here are all the celebrities (you care about) who have appeared and continue to appear at the WM Phoenix Open tournament.
Glen Powell
According to a World Cup Phoenix Open list of celebrities, athletes and entertainers scheduled to perform, Powell was expected to be at the Pro-Am.
Powell is known for his roles in films such as Top Gun: Maverick, Set it Up and Anyone but You. He also had a starring role in the first season of the series Scream Queens.
And the star of the romantic comedy and action film actually showed up, as documented by the TikTok videos shared by fans.
Alex Rodríguez
Alex Rodriguez, or “A-Rod,” shared on his Instagram that he had “a blast” at the WM Phoenix Open Annexus Pro-Am on Wednesday despite the rain.
The MLB MVP played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees. He was a former professional baseball shortstop and third baseman with a .295 batting average. He amassed over 600 home runs, over 2,000 runs batted in, over 2,000 runs scored, over 3,000 hits and over 300 stolen bases. He is the only player in MLB history to achieve all of these numbers.
Rodriguez is also a businessman and philanthropist; He is chairman and CEO of A-Rod Corp and chairman of Presidente Beer. He is part owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association.
Michael Phelps
The highly decorated Olympian has become a fixture at Arizona events after living here for about nine years. He threw out the first pitch at one of the home games during the Diamondbacks' run in the World Series in 2023.
The swimmer with 28 Olympic medals, more than any other athlete in history, was spotted golfing in Scottsdale on Wednesday.
Larry Fitzgerald Jr.
Legendary Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald was also seen at TPC Scottsdale on Wednesday.
He played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers and received unanimous All-American honors. He was drafted by the Cardinals in 2004 and played for 17 seasons. He was selected to the Pro Bowl eleven times, was named first-team All-Pro in 2008 and second-team All-Pro in 2009 and 2011. He is second in NFL career receiving yards, second in career receptions, and sixth in career passing touchdowns.
He was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team and the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. In 2020, he became a minority owner of the Phoenix Suns.
Dylan Dreyer
“Today Show” host and TV personality Dylan Dreyer was scheduled to be at the Pro-Am on Wednesday. She is also a meteorologist for “NBC News” and appears on “The Weather Channel” and “NBC Nightly News.”
She shared a video of the hail and rain at TPC Scottsdale with pro golfer Brendon Todd.
Emmitt Smith
Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, was also at the Pro-Am on Wednesday. This is not his first participation as he has already competed in the Annexus Pro-Am five times, taking part in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023.
Smith spent 15 years in the NFL, including 13 years with the Dallas Cowboys and two years with the Arizona Cardinals. He retired in 2004 and still holds the record for the NFL's all-time leading rusher with 18,335 yards. He won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys, was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times, was the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1993 and was named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team in 2019.
Nick Saban
Seven-time college football national champion Nick Saban was at the pro-am on Wednesday.
Saban is also a sports reporter and former professional coach. He is an analyst for ESPN's “College GameDay” and is widely considered one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. He was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins and four universities: Louisiana State University, Michigan State University, the University of Toledo and, most importantly, the University of Alabama.
Carli Lloyd
Lloyd, another gold medalist, is a respected soccer player with wins in 2008 and 2012, two victories at the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2015 and 2019, and FIFA Player of the Year titles in 2015 and 2016.
She has been to the Olympics four times, in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021. She has made 316 appearances for the U.S. national team. She spent nine seasons in the National Women's Soccer League and finished her career with NY/NJ Gotham FC, where she is now a minority investor.
This is her second appearance at the Pro-Am.

According to the World Cup Phoenix Open, other celebrities, athletes and entertainers were at the Pro-Am on Wednesday, including Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Adrian Beltre, Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly and National League Champion Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.
Country superstar Jake Owen, 2022 ACM Award winner Hardy and world-renowned DJ Kygo round out the music front.
Popular comedian and golf fan Nate Bargatze also stopped by the Pro-Am on Wednesday.
