On Thursday evening, Christian Siriano opened New York Fashion Week with his Fall 2024 fashion show at The Plaza in New York.
VIP guests included “Succession” star J. Smith-Cameron, Ashlee Simpson, Sophia Bush, Alicia Silverstone, Melanie Lynskey and more.
Sitting on a chair in a black and gold off-the-shoulder dress, a cosmopolitan cocktail in hand, Smith-Cameron said it was her first time at a Siriano show.
“I love how known he is for his inclusivity,” she said. “He dresses people of all ages, colors and shapes, he has a sense of fantasy, almost like fairytale characters in a nightclub.” He has such joy in fashion, pure, unadulterated joy in fashion. It’s refreshing.”
As for choosing her look for the evening, she said that Siriano sent a few dresses and that she really liked the vintage look of the dress she chose.
“It reminds me of Dior's 'New Look' shape from the 1950s or 1940s, with the nipped waist and flared skirt,” she said.
As for the two big cultural events on the horizon — aside from Fashion Week, of course — Smith-Cameron was a little more interested in Valentine's Day than the Super Bowl.
“My husband and I go to Via Carota, which is our favorite restaurant,” she said.
When it comes to Sunday's big game, she's a little more intrigued this year, but generally shys away from football. And does she have a favorite song by Usher, the halftime singer?
“NO.”
